Keflavik - Holaskjol

28 augustus 2017

In the morning some shopping, no possibilty to buy food for a couple of days.
Then a drive to the south of Iceland till Hella. We went to the Fjallabak South (F210) to have a scenic drive. Then decide to do a detour on the F261. Thank you Jón and Baddi for teaching me how to drive a 4x4 and how to drive in Iceland. This was challenging but beautiful. The weather was bad all day but still a beautiful drive.

When we were back at the Fjallabak south again we needed to cross a river. 9 people who were hiking the Laugavegur were standing there plus a Dutch guy on a motorbike. The rivercrossing was pretty deep and I played ferryboat to bring them all to the other side. In a video you see one of the crossings. The biker decided not to take the risk because of the strong flow. Happy people who didn't get wet.

After the drive we arrived in the hut of Holaskjol. Had some lamb on the bbq and went to bed.

Writing this late afternoon in Hrauneyjar, where we fueled up. The huts don't have WiFi so the next opportunity will be days later again I am afraid.

desolaat landschap en wat een rust straalt het uit. hoe doen jullie dat in al die hutten waar jullie overnachten zonder dat jullie voedsel hebben kunnen inslaan? en zonder wifi? back to basic! om mooie herinneringen aan te bewaren.
