August 19th, exploring the northern part of Vancouver Island

19 augustus 2018 - Port Hardy, Canada

Today I had a nice drive to the North West coast of Vancouver Island. The whole trip was on gravelroads. Nice views, huge amount of trees. No fires here high up north.
In a very tiny village, Holberg, I had a stop for a drink. The average speed on the roads was about 35 km/h. Lots of dust, so drinks were needed.

Continuing to Cape Scott Provincial Park. From there a trail through the woods leads to a very nice and large sandy beach called SanJosef Bay. On the beach were lots of sea stacks. With some imagination some look like animals 😄

The trail through the woods was 2,5 km, the beach was about 2 km long. Beautiful weather, a pity I didn't bring my swimsuit. Or a tent...... Camping was allowed on this beach!

On the way back another stop at the only pub there was, the one in Holberg. Little snack and a drink and some hours driving back to the hostel in Port Hardy.

Tonight I spent some time searching for the next nights. Want to go to the southwest. Oops... I should have planned earlier. In the end I found something far south. So a long drive tomorrow to get there.
