Laugafell - Hveravellir

1 september 2017 - Hveravellir, IJsland

We went up north first and then south again.
Tried a path east from thr Kjölur which is the standard road to Hveravellir. But ended up to have to drive back 38 km to go to the Kjölur. ONe of the glacier rivers was way too high to cross. And there was no-one else on that road, so we couldn't try it with 2 cars to be able to rescue eachother. That's Iceland. High temperatures makes the glacier melt and the rivers swell.

Hveravellir is a beautiful hot spring area, see pictures and video's. We were lucky to stay in the old hut and again we were alone. Others were in the newer hut and on the campground. I love the old hut, it's next to the hot river. One step out of the hut and you can take a bath.
